How does Etcetera work?
Parents sign up for an account, order a prepaid debit card for their child, and can load money onto the card through our mobile app or website. Children can use the card for purchases while learning about budgeting, saving, and responsible spending through our educational features.
Is Etcetera regulated?
Yes, Etcetera operates under Nigerian financial regulations and partners with licensed financial institutions to ensure the security and compliance of all transactions.
Eligibility and Account Setup
Who can get an Etcetera card?
Any child or teenager between the ages of 7-17 who is a Nigerian resident can get an Etcetera prepaid debit card. A parent or legal guardian must set up and manage the account.
What documents do I need to open an account?
You'll need:

Valid government-issued ID for the parent/guardian (National ID, Driver's License, or International Passport)

Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, or tenancy agreement)

How long does it take to get a card?
Once your account is approved, your Etcetera card will be delivered within 5-7 business days in Lagos and Abuja, and 7-10 business days in other states across Nigeria.
Can I get multiple cards for different children?
Yes, you can order multiple cards under one parent account for different children, each with their own spending limits and controls.
Card Features and Usage
Where can my child use the Etcetera card?
The card can be used anywhere Mastercard or Visa is accepted in Nigeria, including:

Are there spending limits?
Yes, parents can set daily, weekly, or monthly spending limits for each card. You can also set limits for specific categories like entertainment, food, or online purchases.

Yes, but parents can enable or disable online spending through the app. We also provide controls for specific websites or types of online merchants.
Does the card work internationally?
International usage can be enabled or disabled by parents through the app. When enabled, standard foreign transaction fees apply.

What if I have issues with a transaction?
Contact our customer support immediately. We investigate all disputed transactions and can reverse fraudulent charges. Most issues are resolved within 3-5 business days.

What happens when my child turns 18?
At 18, your child can choose to transition to a full adult account or close the Etcetera account and move to a traditional bank account.
How do I close an account?
You can close the account anytime through the app or by contacting customer support. Any remaining balance will be transferred back to your linked bank account within 3-5 business days.
